DVMGE. By Cyri In some time in everyone’s lives there is a point of uncertainty, anger, insecurity, elation, depression, loneliness and need. All of these things can happen in a very short period of time between each other. I characterize that state of volatility and emotional instability as heartbreak. Through the use of L ight, sound, music, and color I attempt to project how my mind processes heartbreak. When I experience heartbreak, I get angry, I get sad, I get introspective, defensive, offensive, suicidal, lonely, confident, broken, and on top of the world. The music choice and arrangement in this installation reflects that range of emotions. For example, songs like Crazy where The Code blatantly says "does that make me crazy" and in I Don't Mind where Jynx shows his short-temperedness, but also absolute confidence as he knows he will be fine even if his partner leaves him. In this installation, I interpret the fact that these emotions can fade into each other or come full force through the immersive combination of music, light and color. This installation is based on works by both Kanye West (Wireless Festival) and James Turrell (Into The Light) and features music by The Code, Kanye West, The Weeknd, jynx, Jay Z & Rihanna, XXXTENTACION, No1, PYRMDPLAZA Kendrick Lamar and PARTYNEXTDOOR.
